Brian ClarkeSenior Vice President, Veolia North America
Brian Clarke is president and CEO of Veolia North America. He leads the water, energy, waste and resource recovery activities of Veolia’s North American zone, which has approximately 7,000 employees.
Beginning in 2018, Brian led strategy and corporate development activities for Veolia North America, working to evaluate new business opportunities including acquisitions, joint ventures and complex bids and contracts. He was also responsible for developing VNA’s growth strategy working in close cooperation with our business line leaders.
Brian joined Veolia in 1999 in the legal department of Veolia Water North America, holding a number of positions with VWNA, including chief financial officer and general counsel. Brian has also been executive vice president of corporate development and strategy for Aegion Corporation, a partner at the Chicago law firm of Seyfarth Shaw and a member of the legal department of Waste Management, Inc, including general counsel of the company's hazardous waste subsidiary, Chemical Waste Management, Inc.
He received his Doctor of Law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts, also from the University of Illinois. He is a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois.
Ned BartlettChief Compliance Officer
As the Chief Compliance Officer for Veolia North America (VNA), Ned works across all of VNA’s lines of business in the United States and Canada. He oversees and manages compliance issues within the company and externally with customers, partners, intermediaries, suppliers and subcontractors.
Ned has over 25 years’ private and public experience in the energy and environmental fields. He joined Veolia in 2017 as the Vice President of Government Markets, in charge of providing actionable intelligence on government legislation, regulations and policies to support key markets and initiatives.
Following this, Ned was Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy, responsible for leading and executing all government strategies, sustainability programming and trade association engagement.
Immediately prior to joining Veolia, Ned served as Undersecretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs for the Baker/Polito administration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In this role he advised the Secretary on energy, environmental and climate policy and regulation and served as the Chair of the Energy Facility Siting Board. Previously, Ned was a partner at the law firm of Bowditch & Dewey, LLP, focusing on the environment, energy, transportation and real estate development.
Ned earned a bachelor's degree from Lehigh University and a Juris Doctorate and Master of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School. Ned serves on the Advisory Board for the Boston University Institute for Sustainable Energy.
Bob CappadonaEVP and COO Environmental Solutions and Services
In 1991, Bob joined Veolia Environmental Services as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for the company's hazardous waste management operations and resided in Flanders, NJ. In 1996, he moved to New England to become the General Manager for the branch operations in that area, and in 2008, he became the Vice-President of Service Operations for the Eastern region of the company. In 2012, Bob assumed responsibility for Veolia's operations in the Western Region. In 2014, he became the Senior Vice-President for the Environmental Solutions and Services (ESS) business of Veolia's Industrial business line. In 2015, his scope of responsibility expanded to include Veolia's environmental business lines in Canada. In 2016, he was named Chief Operating Officer of the ESS business.
Bob started his environmental career in 1987 as an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer for the General Electric (GE) Company in Somerville, NJ. In 1989, he became the EHS Manager for GE's semiconductor manufacturing operations in the United States and Europe. While in this role, he experienced first-hand the falling of the Berlin Wall and the massive San Francisco earthquake and the environmental issues that ensued.
Bob is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan and has completed extensive graduate studies in toxicology at Michigan and environmental health at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Most importantly, Bob is the proud dad of a son, Dominick. Bob is also an avid marathon runner (120+) and enjoys watching his son play soccer, hockey and baseball.
Denis ChesseronExecutive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer
Denis Chesseron was appointed Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Veolia North America (VNA) in September 2020. In this role, he leads VNA’s Finance organization, including transformation initiatives, in addition to Procurement and Information and Systems Technology. As a strong believer in Veolia's purpose and resourcing the world, he views his role as a catalyst and changemaker for all of its business lines. He reports to the President and CEO of VNA as well as the Veolia group's Chief Financial Officer. In addition, Denis spends time traveling to different businesses within Veolia to better understand the Group’s operations and culture.
Denis joined Veolia group's Water division in 2005, became the Group's Financial Controller in 2012 and then served as Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer until 2020. He was also a member of the Group’s management committee, relying on team spirit to break down barriers that may exist in a large organization.
Denis holds a Master of Finance from the University of Orléans in France.
He is married and is the proud father of a son and two daughters. He is also an opera lover and enjoys walking, playing tennis and visiting contemporary art exhibitions.
Bill FaheySVP Technical and Performance and EH&S
As the leader of the Technical and Performance department for Veolia North America, Bill is responsible for driving operational and technical performance. The team provides technical support and assistance to all North American operations. His group is also responsible for implementing and enforcing standards, benchmarks and applying technical solutions for improving business performance.
Bill has worked in the utility industry for over 30 years. He has used his expertise in reliability engineering to support projects in North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific. Prior to joining Veolia, Bill spent 13 years with the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority in various roles including the position of Asset Manager of the 1.2 billion gallon per day Deer Island wastewater treatment plant. Bill was one of the technical leads for the design, construction, turn-over and start-up of the Boston Harbor Project.
Bill earned a bachelor's degree in marine engineering at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts.
Carrie GriffithsSenior Vice President Communications
Carrie leads Veolia North America's (VNA) communications team to promote, enhance and protect VNA's brand.
Through media relations, digital and social media, crisis communications management, employee engagement and executive communications, she communicates the company's mission with various external and internal stakeholders.
Carrie joined VNA in 2018 as Vice President of Communications where she worked with the leadership team to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and defined appropriate strategies to capitalize on them. She was promoted to Senior Vice President of Communications in October 2019.
Carrie brings more than 25 years' corporate communications experience in global Fortune 150 environmental services, waste, energy and manufacturing corporations.
Prior to joining VNA, she was Director of Global Communications for InterGen, an independent power producer. She has held roles of increasing responsibility in corporate communications at Waste Management, Wheelabrator Technologies and Tyco International.
Graduating with honors from the University of New Hampshire, Carrie has a Bachelor of Arts in communications.
Dan MahoneyEVP and General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer
As Chief Legal Officer, Dan is responsible for all legal and compliance matters, and also oversees the real estate and insurance/risk groups.
He manages a team of lawyers and legal professionals who cover the full breadth of the company's legal work, including contract negotiations and contract administration, mergers and acquisitions, business development, dispute resolution and litigation management, and labor and employment law compliance.
Dan joined Veolia North America in 2011. Previously, he served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of The Penn Traffic Company, a publicly traded food retailer, manufacturer and wholesaler headquartered in New York.
He began his legal career at the Boston law firm, Nutter, McClennen & Fish, LLP.
An avid Boston sports fan, Dan had a series of legal analysis op-eds published in a major Boston newspaper during the NFL's "Deflategate" saga involving Patriots' quarterback, Tom Brady.
Dan received a bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Harvard College, and a juris doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Law.
Steve MarcoliniSVP Information Systems and Technologies (IS&T) and CIO
With 32 years of experience in IT, Steve is responsible for all Information Technology activities for Veolia North America (United States and Canada.)
Steve joined Veolia Energy in 2008 as Sr. Director of IT responsible for aligning IT strategy with the business mission. In 2011, Steve was promoted to Chief Information Officer and charged with setting the vision for IT and developing and executing the IT strategy in support of the business strategy, in addition to assisting with the creation of a shared IT environment across North America. Most recently, Steve led the cross-functional teams chartered with implementing a major ERP crossing all lines of the business.
Prior to joining Veolia, Steve led IT teams in the Consumer Packaged Goods and Food industries. He has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Providence College and an MBA from Bryant College.
Jim PawloskiEVP and COO Industrial Water and Regeneration Services
Jim serves as EVP and COO of Industrial Water and Regeneration Services. In this role, he leads the operations of Veolia's Regeneration Services specializing in the recovery of sulfuric acid and gases of the refining process, which are regenerated into clean acid and steam used in wide range of industrial activities.
Before joining Veolia, Jim had a 30 year career at DuPont, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in operations, strategy, M&A, and business transformation. Jim spent five years managing DuPont's Clean Technologies business, which specializes in delivering innovative services and solutions to the refining sector.
Jim holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware and an MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Bruce RintoulSVP Canada
A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Bruce serves as the Senior Vice President of Operations for Veolia North America's Canada West business (Ontario and all provinces west of Ontario). In this role, he leads energy and water operations, all Environmental Solutions and Services (ESS) and industrial cleaning operations in the Canada West market.
Before joining Veolia, Bruce was Chief Operating Officer of Strike Energy Services, a Canadian oilfield construction company focused on pipeline construction, module fabrication and oil processing facility construction. With more than 35 years of industrial waste, construction and maintenance experience, Bruce has held operational and executive positions at CEDA International, RSC Equipment Rental, The Churchill Corporation, and Philip Services Corporation.
Bruce earned a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering at the University of New Hampshire and an M.B.A. at the University of Western Ontario. Bruce holds professional engineer certification in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario and the Canadian Institute of Corporate Director ICD.D designation.
Augie SchulkeEVP HR and CHRO
Augie is EVP HR and CHRO for Veolia North America. He was most recently Corporate Director of Human Resources for Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies North America.
Augie has been with Veolia since 2010 and has two decades of experience in aligning business strategies and human resources solutions. Prior to joining Veolia, he served as Vice President, Human Resources for a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and performance materials. Augie has held senior positions in HR for companies in the chemical, information services and healthcare industries in the U.S., European and Asian markets.
Augie has a M.B.A. in human resources and finance from Lewis University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University. He holds the Senior Professional Human Resource License, Certified Compensation Professional and Certified Benefits Professional License. He’s also participated in executive education programs at Stanford University, Northwestern University,London Business School, INSEAD University in executive management and human resources.
Patrick SchultzSenior Vice President Strategy
Patrick Schultz was appointed Senior Vice President Strategy of Veolia North America (VNA) in October 2019. In this role, he is responsible for establishing robust strategic planning processes, working with the CEO and business unit leaders to set the direction of the company, and leading organizational change and other strategic initiatives. Patrick also ensures alignment between the strategic direction of VNA and Veolia Group’s global strategic plan.
Patrick joined VNA in 2011 and most recently established and led the performance team, an in-house consulting group focused on delivering high-impact performance improvement projects and establishing a comprehensive operational excellence program across VNA's entire operations portfolio in the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to joining the company, Patrick worked at McKinsey & Co. where he supported a wide range of clients on performance transformation and strategy projects across various industry sectors, including water utilities, chemicals, oil and gas, and semi-conductor manufacturing.
Patrick received a PhD in geosciences from Princeton University for his research on the impact of climate change on ocean ecosystems. He also holds an MSc in environmental engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Dipl.-Ing. in environmental engineering from the Universität Stuttgart in his native country of Germany.
Despite having lived in the U.S. since 2001, Patrick is still an avid (but often disappointed) fan of his home town's soccer club — VfB Stuttgart from Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. To make up for the disappointment, Patrick spends much of his weekend on the soccer pitch, cheering on his eight and 10-year old sons.
Peter TellegenSenior Vice President Corporate Development and Mergers and Acquisitions
Peter leads corporate development and merger and acquisition (M&A) activities for Veolia North America (VNA), covering the United States and Canada.
He is responsible for the evaluation and execution of acquisition and divestiture activities as well as evaluation of other complex business transactions.
Peter joined VNA in 2011 as Vice President - Finance, Veolia Water - Industrial Prior to joining the team, Peter served as Chief Financial Officer at Complete Energy, a privately held independent power producer.
Previously, Peter held positions in corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions for Dynegy, Enron, British Gas and RBC Capital Markets.
Peter has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from Rice University.
Courtney WrightVice President and Chief Procurement Officer
Courtney leads Veolia North America's (VNA) Procurement team and is responsible for reshaping procurement while maximizing value and mitigating risk across VNA’s supply base. Courtney's team is responsible for managing national suppliers, strategic sourcing, contract negotiations and compliance to purchasing policies and processes.
With 20 years of industrial operations and continuous improvement experience, she was named Chief Procurement Officer in 2021 and aims to shift Procurement’s focus from cost savings to multifaceted performance.
Courtney joined VNA in 2016 as Plant Manager for the James River site in Richmond, Virginia, when VNA acquired the Regeneration Services business. From 2019 to 2021, she was a member of the Technical and Performance team where she was responsible for leading VNA's Operational Excellence program. Prior to joining VNA, she held roles of increasing responsibility at DuPont.
Courtney has a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration in supply chain management from Northeastern University.
