Landfill Gas-to-Energy

The scope

In Hilbert, WI, Veolia has designed and built, and now owns, operates and maintains a landfill gas-to-energy plant at the site of Veolia North America's Hickory Meadows landfill. Commercial operations began in August 2011. The Hickory Meadows plant is operated remotely from Grand Rapids, MI.

The customers

The energy from the plant — enough to power about 2,800 homes — is purchased by Wisconsin Public Service to partially fulfill the requirements of Wisconsin's Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS).
