Statement Regarding Hurricane Harvey’s Impact on Veolia’s Port Arthur Incinerator

Following Hurricane Harvey’s path across Southeast Texas, Veolia’s incinerator at Port Arthur is intact and operational at this time. All of the wastes at the facility are safe and secure as are Veolia’s on-site essential operations personnel.

Following Hurricane Harvey’s path across Southeast Texas, Veolia’s incinerator at Port Arthur is intact and operational at this time. All of the wastes at the facility are safe and secure as are Veolia’s on-site essential operations personnel.

During the storm, our Port Arthur incinerator’s levy system and stormwater management systems functioned perfectly. Essential operational personnel were on-site at the plant throughout the four-day storm to keep the incineration unit operational and to manage 66 million gallons of stormwater. There is no damage to the incinerator unit or the waste management systems.

As soon as the emergency management officials determine it is safe for our employees and waste to travel the roads, the plant will become fully operational.

Our entire organization is concerned for our employees, neighbors and the communities that have been impacted by the storm and will continue to experience the effects of Hurricane Harvey. We are deploying additional management, technical and humanitarian support.
