Operations Team in Puerto Rico Recognized by the Caribbean Business Journal

The ESS team in Puerto Rico, led by Tomas Rivera, has been recognized by Caribbean Business Journal for 25 years of service transforming waste into resources.

Veolia Puerto Rico's waste management team.

Veolia’s transshipment facility in Gurabo collects and processes waste materials from biomedical and pharmaceutical companies across the country. Of that waste, the team exports some 50 million pounds to the New Jersey processing plant, where 80 percent of the waste is reused to produce energy.

In the article, Tomas Rivera, a business manager for Veolia’s Puerto Rico Branch, explains why their team is the go-to environmental services provider in the country.

“Not only are our clients confident that we will handle these materials in a cost-efficient and environmentally friendly manner, but we also go beyond that and aim to transform that waste into a reusable resource,” said Rivera.
