## The scope

In Hilbert, WI, Veolia has designed and built, and now owns, operates and maintains a landfill gas-to-energy plant at the site of Veolia North America's Hickory Meadows landfill. Commercial operations began in August 2011. The Hickory Meadows plant is operated remotely from Grand Rapids, MI.



 

 

 



## The customers

The energy from the plant — enough to power about 2,800 homes — is purchased by Wisconsin Public Service to partially fulfill the requirements of Wisconsin's Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS).



 

 

 



## Production capacity

### Facts:

- 4.8 megawatts
- Three reciprocating engine sets of 1.6 megawatts each
- Carbon dioxide reductions of more than 25,000 tons each year
- Equivalent carbon dioxide reduction to removing 37,550 cars from the streets
